Aquatic Management
The biological approach to healthy waterways
- Introducing oxygen and circulation to the stressed environment that often lacks sufficient oxygen-rich surface areas necessary to maintain a balanced ecology;
- Utilising native higher plants and artificial media as bio-film substrate to support rich microbial, algae and animal communities;
- Acting as an incubator for great volumes of beneficial microorganisms that feed on excess nutrients and organic pollutants;
- Providing opportunities for benthic communities to establish themselves in the bottom areas that were once oxygen poor.
- Efficient airlift pumps and fine-bubble air diffusion systems add oxygen to the water as well as circulate water and nutrients. It is the complete body of water that treats itself.
Restoration system
A totally biological restoration system for lake and pond environments, including both subsurface aeration and beneficial microbe application, has been proven to be the most effective solution to water quality issues.
Chemical application acts only as a short-term remedy that has no real value as a solution for constant water quality problems. In most cases involving eutrophic (high in organics and nutrients) ponds, chemical application resulted in reduction of important vascular plant species, increasing blooms of nuisance algae and planktonic (suspended) algae.
Approach
Using the following proven natural techniques, our full spectrum approach has been very successful in improving water quality and clarity, reducing excess nutrients, digesting accumulated organic sludge, reversing eutrophication and revitalizing fisheries.
- Lake Bed Aeration(TM)
Lake Bed Aeration(TM) provides sufficient oxygen for fish, aquatic organisms and beneficial bacteria by breaking down stratified waters while increasing dissolved oxygen levels.
- Aquatron(TM) and WSR(TM)
Beneficial microbial formulations like Aquatron(TM) and Waste and Sludge Reducer(TM) are a combination of specific microbes that occur in nature. Beneficial microbes, added in very high concentrations, result in improved water quality and clarity and reduction of excess nutrients and organic sludge in water bodies.
- In-lake Biofiltration and Habitat Enhancement
AquaMats provide surfaces that encourage the proliferation of healthy communities of microscopic aquatic plants and animals. They also mimic a natural reef to provide shelter, replicate ideal spawning areas and create a concentrated food resource for many fish species. The result is increased survival, improved reproduction, larger fish, and reduced stress.
- Algae eradication by ultrasound
Algae control by ultrasound is a very efficient technique to kill algae, totally chemically free and environmentally friendly.
- Ozone Aeration
In some cases we can deploy additional measures like ozone aeration, a process where low levels of ozone gas is blended with the main air stream going to the lake, resulting in oxidation of organics and other contaminants.
