Just as trees and plants have the ability to clean air for land-based ecosystems, healthy communities of microscopic aquatic plants and animals have the ability to purify water by naturally digesting nutrients responsible for poor water health.

Aquamats® for Lakes provide precision-engineered surfaces that encourage the proliferation of these communities which lie at the base of the aquatic food chain and are key to natural water health and clarity.

Specialised habitats

Aquamats® are specifically designed to mimic a natural artificial reef and as such they provide great substrates for microbial additives such as Aquatron^TM and Waste and Sludge Reducer^TM for accelerated water quality improvement.

Aquamats®are effective at immobilising toxic metals like copper and aluminium,and especially in the rapid uptake and removal of excess nitrogen and phosphorus.

Aquamats are ideal for lakes and ponds that struggle to maintain acceptable water clarity and are proven to dramatically increase water clarity within weeks of introducing them to problem ponds or lakes.

Aquamats® work by promoting a "Natural Cycle" in the water. This cycle is divided into 3 distinct phases :

1 Exponential Growth

As soon as the Aquamats are placed in the lake, they attract a divers biological community to their surfaces. In addition, using Aquatron^TM and Waste and Sludge Reducer^TM at this time promotes and enhances this process. This first 4 week period is referred to as the "exponential growth" phase.

2 Maturing & Balancing

During this phase, the biological growth community on the Aquamats comes into relative balance in the lake ecosystem. The balancing process is aided by both fish and the naturally occurring zooplankton population present in most lakes. The biological growth on the Aquamats provides a natural supplemental food source for a healthy environment.

3 Repeating the cycle

Aquamats® form a biological community that function in a continuous cycle. Metabolic wastes and nutrients from other organic sources are consumed and processed in the Aquamat environment. This process is enhanced by the bi-weekly use of Aquatron^TM and Waste and Sludge Reducer.^TM
