Plasma Arc Technology for the AustralAsian Region.
Magnegas Plasma Arc technology is a fundamentally new technology that is able to offer treatment
solutions for a wide variety of liquid waste streams. Including:
- Sewage and/or Sludge
- Liquid and Solid Animal Waste
- Automotive Liquid Waste
- Transformer Oil contaminated with PCB
- Waste Oils e.g. fish and chip oils, mechanics
- Glycerin & Bio-fuel By-Products
- Sugar Wastes (e.g. waste from sugar mills)
- Organic chemical wastes
- Ethanol By-Products
- Paint & Thinner Waste
Systems can be operated in different modes depending on the treatment outcome desired. Total
mode systems convert every molecule of waste to gas, but are only suitable for lower volume
wastestreatms (e.g. transformer oil, sewage sludges).
Linear mode system break down the
carbonaceous matter and sterilise the effluent, and is suitable for high volume wastestreams (e.g.
sewage, animal wastes). A sterile fertiliser is produced from the linear mode recycler. The systems
can also be run as a semi-total system whereby more “dirty” effluent is recirculated several times
through the PlasmaArc Recycler before it is discharged.
A 100kW unit can treat 180,000 litres per day in Linear mode or up to 2,750litres in Total mode. Units up to 500kW are available (able to treat 5 times the capacity of a 100kW system), and can be operated as multi unit systems to further increase capacity and provide additional engineering confidence.
Wastewaters
Traditional treatment process for carbonaceous wastewaters (e.g. sewage, animal waste) are based
on harnessing the power of microbes; provide the right environment (temperature, oxygen content,
pH, salinity) and right species, microbes will slowly consume and break down many contaminants.
If the delicately balanced microflora changes, or there is a change in surrounding environment (e.g.
temperature, dissolved oxygen), then the microbes can either die or lose their effectiveness in
metabolising the contaminants – resulting in poor treatment.
Magnegas’ Plasma Arc technology is not reliant on biological systems at all, rather it uses an “electric
arc” in the liquid wastestream to create a high temperature plasma that destroys pathogens, and
break apart contaminants at a molecular level.
Oils & Organic Chemicals
Total Plasma-Arc-Flow Recyclers can treat most chemicals and oil based wastes, some listed below.
- Crude Oil
- Waste Oil e.g. fish and chip oil, mechanical workshops, oil gear or hydraulic oil etc.
- Old Antifreeze
- Animal Renderings
- Old Paint
- PCB Transformer oil
These oil/chemical liquid wastes tend to be very challenging and often expensive to find treatment
solutions. In fact, the viability of many chemical/oil Plants often hinge on finding economically
competitive solutions to treat their waste streams and minimise the environmental impact of their
operation. Magnegas Recyclers can provide a viable cost effective solution that transforms
deleterious waste streams to clean source of fuel (Magnegas).
The Magnegas PlasmaArc Recycler if operated in total mode will convert 100% of the wastes to
Magnegas. No effluent is discharged, 100% is converted to a clean fuel source. PlasmaArc systems
can be set up on directly site so that no regulatory waste have to leave site (hence no transportation
costs), or in a regional areas to collect waste from local sources.
The Recyclers can also be appropriately scaled to meet the capacity required, from small on site
units (e.g. perhaps specifically treating regional Council sewage sludges and chemical wastes),
through to large multiple unit systems that support the operations of major chemical Plants.
A Fuel Revolution
Magnegas, produced from the PlasmaArc Recylers, is a gaseous hydrogen based fuel that contains a
combination of hydrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide and inert trace gases. It can contain up to 60%
hydrogen, hence why it is a cleaner burning fuel than other fuels currently on the market. It is
interchangeable with Natural Gas. Therefore, any car, electric generator, stove, etc. operating on
Natural Gas (or propane) also works with MagneGas without any modification.
It is a renewable non-hydrocarbon man made fuel.
Some of the areas that the Magnegas Fuel can be used for are:
- Metal cutting – substitute for acetylene
- A renewable clean fuel for vehicles
- Cleaning fossil fuels
- A fuel for industrial furnaces – often furnaces, have hydrogen mixed into the fuel gas to increase the flame temperature. Hydrogen is already present in Magnegas.
- A fuel for households e.g. gas burners, barbeques , water heating, home heating.
- Production of Green Electricity
- Economic production of Hydrogen – Magnegas has a high percentage of free hydrogen that can be separated out to pure hydrogen. Development is underway to commercialise this process.
