Overview

Photocatalysis by titanium dioxide is internationally recognized as one of the new sterilization materials, which can kill almost all kinds of bacteria including flu and SARS. Sterilization Mechanism of TiO2 Photocatalyst

Titanium dioxide itself has no toxicity to microbe or cells. The sterilization mechanism only kicks in after exposure to UV light. When this happens, the very strong oxidizing power of titanium dioxide can destroy the bacteria’s cell wall and membrane, and reacts with cell components, which inhibits the bacteria’s activity and ultimately results in its death and decomposition.

It kills almost all kinds of bacteria and viruses included SARS, H5N1 etc. The product stays active for a very long time. It thorougly decomposes bacteria & viruses and has a stable effect on killing new variations of the bacteria. TiO2 photocatalyst won’t lose its effect because of a buildup of bacterial body accumulation on the surface (e.g. silver antibacterial process). At the same time the photocatalyst can also eliminate cigarette smoke and pet odours, and reduces indoor allergic agents which can cause respiratory disorders.
