The LG SONIC XL was the first of the long range ultrasonic output devices developed by LG SOUND and will handle ponds up to a maximum of 3.8 acres with a reach of 100 meters.
The LG SONIC XL unit has now been surpassed in range by the XXL unit, but has remained a popular solution for smaller ponds based on its well earned reputation and moderate price.
The key to effectiveness of this device, as well as all of the LG SONIC line of algae control products, is the transducer or the underwater ultrasound emitter. The transducer was designed for the express purpose of creating a resonating sound wave at the optimum frequency that breaks down the fragile algae vacuole cell wall, thus causing the algae to die.
